The Deadly Vision Centre is located in The Narrows, Darwin. We are an Aboriginal owned and operated optical and eye care provider that combines the clinical expertise of Optometrists and Ophthalmologist, with the cultural expertise, knowledge and unique skill set of Aboriginal Health Workers/ Practitioners. Your Deadly Experience Explained

Your eyes can tell a lot about your general health so it’s important to keep your eye health in check with a regular eye examination. Below we explain the step-by-step process from booking an eye test and how we can help you manage your eye health.

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE

The Eye Mob at the DVC will send you a reminder the day before about your eye appointment. Bring your current glasses with you along with your Medicare Card and any concession cards that entitle you to free or discounted glasses.

WHEN YOU ARRIVE

The Eye Mob at the DVC will collect some details from you including name, date of birth, address and Medicare card number.

CHECKING YOUR EYE HEALTH AND TESTING YOUR VISION

Before you see our optometrist, an Aboriginal Health Worker will collect some health information from you and conduct some diagnostic tests using equipment. This is then used by our optometrists to help assess the health of your eyes. The optometrist will then test your vision, check the front & back of your eyes, then try to correct your vision if you need it.

AFTER YOUR EYE CHECK

If a pair of glasses will help improve your vision our AHW will help you to select some Deadly frames and the lenses to suit your needs. Some additional measurements will be taken so your new Deadly glasses are a great fit and your order will be sent to the lab to have your lenses fitted.

COLLECTING YOUR DEADLY GLASSES

Your glasses will take up to 2 weeks to be made. Once they arrive the Eye Mob will contact you to arrange collection. When you collect them our AHW will ensure they fit correctly and make any adjustments necessary. This should take about 10mins.

AFTER YOUR EYE CHECK

The Eye Mob will contact you when you are due for your next eye check or to confirm your Eye Specialist appointment. You can also return at anytime before your next appointment if you have any questions or are worried about your vision.
